WEEK 5 REFLECTION

This is the fourth lecture for this course. In this lecture, we were introduced to six strategies in teaching science subject. Those strategies as listed below :

1. MBL -computer - based laboratory
2. Drill and Practice
3. Tutorials
4. Simulations
5. Problem - solving
6. Educational Games


MBL - computer-based laboratory
utilizes a computer, a data collection interface, electronic probes, and graphing software, allowing students to collect, graph, and analyze data in real-time. This real-time atmosphere allows students to attend to and process important details in each experiment.


Drill and Practice
is a structured, repetitive review of previously learned concepts to a predetermined level of mastery.


Tutorials
Interactive class taught by a tutor to students at university or college, individually or in small groups; Of or pertaining to a tutor; belonging to, or exercised by, a tutor.


Simulations
The act of simulating something generally entails representing certain key characteristics or behaviours of a selected physical or abstract system.


Problem-solving
is a mental process and is part of the larger problem process that includes problem finding and problem shaping.


Educational Games
are games that have been specifically designed to teach people about a certain subject, expand concepts, reinforce development, understand an historical event or culture, or assist them in learning a skill as they play.

WEEK 3 REFLECTION



This is our third lecture on for Technology In Primary School Science. For this lecture, we had learnt the "Learning Theories" Learning Theories are separated to three divisions which are Behaviorism, Cognitivism and Constructivism.


Based on those three learning theories, we are able to analyze in more specific way on children's way of learning. As we realize, nobody are able to easily read a book during the childhood and there should be a progress on it. There are many researchers prove that each child have different way of learning.

Those learning theories are important for us as teachers as we are dealing with primary school science students. More or less, with all this knowledge, it enable us to be prepare in dealing with young learners. Besides, it helps in preparing our lesson planning and teaching aids in order to handle the class which the pupils with various learning styles so that, no one will be left behind.

Then, there was an activity where we should discuss and give suggestion on the food that suitable for the astronauts bring to the space. We have to give reasons why logically we chose the food.

WEEK 2 REFLECTION

This is our second lecture for this course. Here we were introduced to the use use of technology from the past until today. I could see clearly and understand that the technology evolves from the day it was explored and invented until today. Technology always keep on moving step by step
from day by day. This evolution gives great impact to the human being in proceeding the life.



During this lecture, we were also being introduced to the computer system. A computer system consist hardware (input devices, output devices, etc), softwares ( OS software, application software, etc). Other
than that, we were exposed to the computer that enhance my knowledge in this field. Those terminologies sound familiar to me (maybe I had seen or heard it somewhere else), but I did not really understand about it until Dr. Rohaida explained it to the class.
Those terminologies are :
FTP - File Transfer Protocol; transfers file from computers to web server; need FTP program


BROWSER COOKIE - packet of information sent by a server to a World Wide Web browser and then sent back by the browser, user for user aunthentication, user trackingm and maintaining user -specific information.


RSS - a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works such as blog entries.


For me, it is crucial for us as the teachers to know all of this knowledge. It is because, we are living in the modern world where the usage of technology is at the peak in our life. As teachers, we should prepare our selves with all those kind of knowledge.

After that, we were assigned to work in groups and we have to make a presentation on the Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Realilty.

As for the task, my group have to present on the virtual reality. As we all know this kind of technology is not really being practiced. It might too costly in order to implement this kind of technology in our education system.

WEEK 1 REFLECTION

It was my first day attending the class for this course. The first time met

Dr.Rohaida and she had given brief explanation regarding to this course.

On that day, we were assigned to work in small groups and find the information

regarding to the earlier technology tools that had been used in the classroom. For

examples, OHP, video player and visualiser. Then, we have to present the findings in form of powerpoint presentation.
